The tower has long been an inspiration for many, shining through NYC’s toughest times as a symbol of strength, perseverance and prosperity. A Grand Prize winner ($5,000), a Second-Place winner ($1,500), and 10 Category winners ($500) will be chosen in the 2024 Photo Contest.

We’re evening the playing field for amateurs and pros alike with 11 potential categories for you to choose from when submitting your entry. Select the one that best applies to your photo!
In addition to our grand prize and second place winners, we will also be selecting a category winner for each category—and that could be YOU!
Totally new to photography? Select this category! Please only enter this category if you would not classify yourself as either a hobby or professional photographer.
This category is perfect for phone photographers! Please only submit to this category if your entry was taken on an iPhone or similar smart phone.
Get creative with it! From backgrounds to starry-night skies, this category is perfect for images with creative edits. Entries in this category should have edits that are clearly photoshopped (or via another photo editing application), as opposed to simple lighting changes, etc.
This is for all you sunrise & sunset visitors! If you’ve photographed the sunrise or sunset from our Observatories or from afar, select this category during entry.
Rainbows, stormy skies & snow squalls are just the tip of the iceberg for this category! If your entry features some crazy weather, select this while entering! Views & exterior images are both accepted.
All about those high-up aerials! If you’ve captured a photo that shows large parts of the city including the Empire State Building, this is your category.
Nothing is better than the city that never sleeps, or the Empire State Building that glows among it! Capture your best shot of the building among the city lights after sunset with long exposure photography.
